The organizers of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris 2024 revealed today (Monday) the mascots that will be called - Friggs.
As their name suggests, they are inspired by the Phrygian bonnet, a soft red headdress, the tip of which is pulled forward.
It symbolizes the excellence of the French Revolution and the Republic, which is taught in all classes.
"We were looking for a mascot that embodies the French spirit, that wears the colors of the country, it's part of our history," said Julie Matikain, Paris 2024 brand manager. The mascots were tested and approved in a special survey conducted among children aged 6 to 14.

The Phrygians - a name that may be difficult to pronounce and write - are practically twins, and the Paris 2024 mascot is not gender specific.

One has a prosthesis and a red sneaker while the other wears two blue sneakers.
The Olympian Phrygia, for some reason, is portrayed as the more intellectual of the two, more thoughtful, while her Paralympic talisman is portrayed as friendly and warm.
The freebies (made mostly from recycled materials) will also be available in the form of t-shirts, hoodies, key chains or pins.
The ambition of the organizing committee is to sell several million copies of the Phrygians by the time of the Olympic Games.
The 24 cm model is sold for 26 euros and the sizes reach up to 80 cm.
